Georgina Nixon

The following is an extract from a recent press release regarding H&H Auction Rooms' newest recruit.

The 26 year old Trainee Auctioneer and Valuer, who is originally from Northumberland, spent two years with Christies New York while studying for her Master of Art in Modern  Art, Connoisseurship and the History of the Art Market.

While Georgina’s academic achievements are in the field of fine art, it is her passion for the wider world of antiques which prompted her to join H&H. She has a personal interest in vintage textiles and costume, and is a collector of Georgian and Victorian needlework samplers. This enthusiasm is set to cross over into Georgina’s professional life as she plans a specialist auction of Vintage & Retro Costume, Textiles and Furnishings later this year, a first for the region. “I hope to bring a new dimension to our sales calendar; there is growing interest in vintage and retro fashion, particular among younger buyers” said Georgina. “We expect the sale to have broad appeal but certainly to attract those new the auction environment into our salerooms” she added.

Paul Laidlaw, Auctioneer and Valuer, said “Georgina brings both talent and youth to our business and we are both hugely excited about the future.” Paul is a BBC antiques consultant and makes regular appearances on TV’s Bargain Hunt.

H&H Auction Rooms, a subsidiary of the H&H Group, holds regular auctions of Antiques And Fine Art & Collectors’ Items, Medals, Arms & Militaria, Vintage Fishing Tackle, and Autographs, Postcards & Antiquarian Books.
